What Is Structural Mold?
Structural mold is a type of fungus that grows on building materials when enough moisture is present. Their “food” is the building material, while the moisture source can include hidden water leaks, poor ventilation, and lot drainage issues.
Some molds are hydrophilic, like Stachybotrys, and require high levels of moisture to grow. Other molds are xerophilic, like Wallemia, and require very little moisture to grow. As mold grows, it releases spores, fragments, and biotoxins into the indoor living space.
Unexplained or mysterious recurring health symptoms can be caused by hidden mold.
To find out if you have hidden mold in your home, schedule an inspection today.
“Every home tells a story. My job is to uncover what others miss and find the source so the problem gets fixed the right way.”
— Brian Suggs
Why Some Mold Problems Get Missed
What Most People Assume
If it isn’t visible, it isn’t serious.
A quick look or one air sample will tell the full story.
If previous testing was “normal”, the problem is gone.
What Actually Happens
Mold hides inside walls, HVAC systems, crawlspaces, and under flooring.
Traditional testing often misses hidden contaminants.
The source of moisture was never fully corrected.

We Inspect for Clues — Not Just Mold
A thorough mold inspection goes far beyond what’s visible. We look for signs of underlying moisture like bubbling paint, soft drywall, warped baseboards, and staining to identify areas needing further investigation.

How We Test Differently
We use advanced testing methods tailored to your property based on history and inspection findings.
HERTSMI-2
DNA-Based Dust Testing
Identifies mold species commonly associated with water-damaged buildings using DNA analysis of settled dust. This testing can help uncover hidden mold that may not appear during standard air or surface sampling.
ACTINOMYCETES
Water-Damage Bacteria Testing
Detects bacteria commonly found in buildings with chronic moisture problems and water-damaged materials. This testing can provide additional insight when occupants are experiencing ongoing health symptoms.
ENDOTOXIN
Inflammatory Contaminant Testing
Measures inflammatory toxins produced by gram-negative bacteria often found in damp or water-damaged environments. Elevated endotoxin levels can cause inflammatory responses.
BETA GLUCAN
Airborne Fungal Particle Testing
Detects fungal cell wall particles that can remain in the environment even when visible mold growth is not present. This testing helps identify the presence of hidden indoor fungus, occupant exposure, and health impact.
